Description of the Partner activities

The main task of CNR IPCF in LIMPID are (i) synthesis, characterization and functionalization photoactive nanocatalysts with tailored size, shape and crystalline phase. (ii) Incorporation of nanocatalysts in polymer matrices. (iii) Test of photocatalytic properties for degradation of water and air pollutants. (iv) Project Management.

CNR IRSA will be involved in testing the new nano-sized photocatalysts, immobilized onto solid support, under simulated solar light conditions for the degradation of selected persistent pollutants in aqueous water matrixes. The degradation products of the selected pollutants will be investigated in order to get insight into the photocatalytic degradation mechanism of the new nano-sized catalysts. In addition, the treated aqueous solutions will be tested by toxicity assays to get insights about the potential threat of degradation products.

Role of the Partner in LIMPID

CNR-IPCF will be involved in:

  • synthesis and characterization of nanostructured photoactive materials;
  • functionalization of nanocatalysts for incorporation in polymer matrices;
  • preliminary tests of the photocatalytic properties for water and air pollutants removal

CNR IRSA will be involved in:

  • Testing the new nano-sized photocatalysts, under simulated solar light conditions for the degradation of selected persistent pollutants in aqueous water matrixes.
  • Getting insight into the photocatalytic degradation mechanism of the new nano-sized catalysts.
  • Toxicity assays to get insights about the potential threat of degradation products.
